1
From young acting background he comes
But then joined a band of posh chums
When first singer went
In front he was sent
But still while recording played drums
2
Though old now their touring’s not ceased
Together they've swung once at least
There’s winter song shiver
There's mist on the river
And home running in the North East
3
A family sings as they should
With Irish mystique in their blood
A Harry by name
Was known for his game
And songs of the rogue Robin Hood
4
A suit maker maybe he’s not
A friend he has certainly got
He worked with a King
With Carly he’d sing
And rain might get terribly hot
5
A darling of Radio Two
She sings with voice clear and true
Her band mates are males
From Barnsley she hails
And carols she sings quite a few
6
A tube at the end of the day
And guns at a school where you pay
A wedge that is red
They should spread on bread
And under the ground is their way
7
A singer with lopsided hair
And two women singers who dare
Their huge Christmas hit
Had cocktails in it
And their dreams electric they’d share
8
Though some of them paired they fell out
Their top album: word gets about
Those links are so strong
A bird’s in a song
Of news that is used they would shout
9
A West Midlands quartet like these
While spelling’s not their expertise
Had one mate called Stan
And festive dance gran
This band they would please and they’d squeeze
10
For felines it’s cold so they say
And happen in Clapham it may
With hearts that get nailed
And mussels impaled
While black coffee starts off the day
11
Have they found the U.S.A. yet?
In New York this duo first met
One bridge had a beat
On Fifty-Ninth Street
And one crossed a stream that’s upset
12
He sang of a Thomas in space
A lightning bolt sat on his face
From star men and ashes
To alien crashes
And rebel sung twice just in case
13
They all had degrees from the start
When more than six seas hit the chart
At Live Aid they shone
That show must go on
For Flash the soundtrack was their part
14
She’s rotating, so she might claim
And these days she’s dropped to one name
In her head I’m stuck
I should have some luck
An Aussi soap was her first fame
15
Their lead man was born as a Scot
Though New York new wave scene’s their spot
A dwelling ablaze
A psycho français
That road going somewhere? It’s not!
16
They sang of a gem that’s insane
And also of easing the pain
It’s not the light side
But that brick divide
And money from which to abstain
