The Gadget
This person keeps in touch with current developments, and so buys presents for everyone which are state-of-the-art miracles of modern technology. Unfortunately the wondrous nature of the presents is not always matched by their usefulness. So it is your Gadget uncle who sends to you the golf-ball shaped egg timer which warns you when your iron is too hot, or the electronic book mark which stores the number of words you have read so far. The card which you receive from the Gadget is enclosed in a digital envelope, and on opening plays a barely recognisable high pitched version of "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer". It is almost impossible to find a shop which stocks the replacement batteries needed for any present which the Gadget buys for you.
