The Buff
The Buff knows more about cinema than Eric the Projectionist, but has a psychological need to divulge all this information to everybody. The Buff knows, for any film, who made the original (even though the writer thought the story was new), and which now-famous stars made their first appearance as a lift operator in this film. The Buff firmly believes that actors and actresses are of no importance, the key to a good film being the interplay of director, gaffer and best boy. The Buff can also pronounce the name of any director, regardless of nationality, and knows what the gaffer and best boy actually do. Favourite films: Divaldi Don Frot, Suvi Sarab Ka, and (inexplicably) Snow White and The Seven Dwarves.
